The Northcote Tavern is our "local" and we have recently used it a few times. The garden outside is a great place to meet for a drink in summer and the food is pretty good at the moment, too. It's pub food, but good quality stuff. I like the steak sandwich best. We've taken the kids to Northcote Tavern (I guess we are one of those annoying families that a previous reviewer mentioned), and they are always happy with the meals and the treat of getting a big fizzy drink in a glass. They can move around a bit more if it is nice enough to sit outside. Coffee from the attached espresso bar is good too, and the staff friendly.
Came along with a friend on a Thursday night, Happen to be Karaoke night. AWESOME!!!! Seen a few Karaokes and this has got to be the best I've ever seen! You're made to feel Welcome, Friendly as people, great Bar, good food, good beer. This Karaoke is out of the box, a laugh a min, I had a great time and will never forget my night there, hope to get back there soon. My hat goes off to the Karaoke guys, you are fantastic Entertainers and know how to make people wanna join in. THUMBS up from me. till next time.
Good pub for those looking for a laid back atmosphere. Family friendly, often see kids there. Large outdoor area, staff are friendly enough. Raffels & quiz nights are on the cards most weeks.
not happy bar staff need to be updated rude and grumpy wouldn't spend another penny there doesn't deserve a star at all been to many pubs in nz this is the worst ever
Used to be a good honest pub serving the best guiness on the shore.
Now it is more like a creche on a Saturday evening.
Recommended if you enjoy the company of the obnoxious offspring of the northcote point former dinkies.

This Pub has all the comforts of home, all the locals or regualrs are always making new comers welcome only if you willing to even look up and not be too snobby. The bar staff are efficent and always cleaning and making your vist comfortable. The food not so easy to find but once found its great!! and coffee not many pubs these days have a sole cafe side its very nice if you not looking fo the whole pub experience.
Could be great but...
Not one good beer on tap. Poor quality & inaccessible food.
Easily remedied but I'm told by regulars it probably never will be. Shame to let it down by such simple mistakes. Other than that it could’ve been great.
Not uncommon in NZ though. Ask anyone from the UK & they’ll say the same thing. Why can’t NZ get it’s Pubs right? Such simple things let them down.
