Had a very enjoyable lunch at Limon.
We ordered a tapas platter to shared, followed by paella.
The food was delicious and the setting very enjoyable.
The staff was pleasant, but the waiter was a little distracted by his mobile phone (txting quite a lot), rather than checking on dinners.
All in all, a very enjoyable meal.
Would happily return and recommend!
Limon is well priced for this end of town but judging by the other reviews here its the service that's indifferent.
Cant say that I experienced that on our last visit - the staff at Limon were all pretty on to it for us.
The wine list at Limon is pretty good too!
I had a very pleasant night in Limon. I have never been to Spain or a Spanish restaurant before , but the atmosphere, music and the staff have really made me feel as if am in a different country . The food was very different and tasty, especially Tapas. The waitress kindly explained to me what empanadas, chorizo, Serrano ham and paella are. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you are up for a new experience :)
Anita.
The waitress was recently arrived from eastern Europe and unsurprisingly had zero knowledge of Spanish food. I ordered a seafood empanada. What arrived was a greasy prawn in an industrial cheese sauce inside a filo pastry that would have ruined a sausage role in a poor quality pub. When I asked for a glass of Trapiche the waitress asked me if I liked Pinot Gris, she was unaware that Trapiche came from Mendoza in Argentina and was famous for Malbec. The wine was however the only genuine thing about this restaurant. The steak was overcooked, poor quality and on a bed of overcooked courgettes and smash. This must be the worst "Spanish restaurant" in the Southern hemisphere, it needs to be closed down soon.
Tapa's were nice and the location was great, HOWEVER the mains were substandard the 'Snapper' was not fresh and I have my doubts if it was actually snapper, It was dry and tasteless and the portions were very small for the price, when we complained we were fobbed off with some lame excuse, we declined the offer of complementary coffee as we couldn't get out of there fast enough.
This has to be the best Spanish restaurant in Auckland! Service was really good - friendly and fast (especially considering how busy the place was on a Friday night), excellent dishes (we had a couple of tapas dishes and crayfish paella) and a good selection of drinks (especially liked the Sangria). Great views, and ambiance was made even better by live spanish guitar. Looking forward to going there again.
I'm a bit reluctant to write a review for this restaurant since it was recommended and not wanting to upset my host. However, it was not my host fault that the standard of food was below par. The portions were small and tasteless. I could not recommend nor will I return.
Fantastic location but the compliments end there. The waiting staff were slow and uninterested, the food prompt but uninspiring. I won't be returning.
