This small and intimate Ponsonby landmark offers, great music and exceptional cocktails. Lime represents a classic night out in a full measure which balances what it may lack in physical capacity. A bit of a tight squeeze never hurt anyone.

We were there last night with some friends and we really enjoyed the place. Matt the manager was friendly and tuned the songs we wanted. The bar was quite empty so we felt like it was a private function! :) The cons: 1- the drinks - the mojitos were not very nice and the daikiri was the worst I tried ever! 2- The girl at the counter was quite rude and not helpful. She seemed to be unhappy of seeing us having fun!!
Lime is the best bar in Ponsonby, great atmosphere created by their long term staff team who can pour your drink, while you push through the crowd, and have it waiting for you at the bar when you get there. Lime also has music everyone knows the words to.
Went to Lime Bar in the early hours of New Year's Day. The place was crowded but the atmosphere and the bar staff were great, the people we met were happy and in good spirits but what should have been an enjoyable start to the New Year was marred somewhat by the incredibly rude security guy. He was surly from the moment we arrived at the bar, and, while we realise he had a job to do (which was apparently to make sure that our drinks remained on the bar while we were standing outside and did not gravitate to a table a few feet away) he had a real attitude and seemed to target specific people. I am not sure why - the people he was most rude to were not intoxicated and did not seem to have done anything to earn his contempt. We met many interesting people that morning and had a great time, but his rude and aggressive behaviour did put a bit of a dampener on our evening.
Best bar in Auckland, great staff great tunes, highly recommended
Lime is a small bar with a great atmosphere. Its not the place to go if you require a large personal space, but for those that don't it's a great night out. The male bartender is good at remembering your drink order, and the security manages to provide a balanced level of both safety and friendliness. This combination fosters an environment which lends itself to a 'must do' fun experience.
if you are looking for attentive SMILEY service then Lime is not the place to go we were a group of 8 who were the only patrons we were served warm beer, we asked for her recommendation for some shooters she said she had no idea what to offer ??? when we turned the fan onto ourselves as it was somewhat hot in the wee bar the bartender came over and turned the fan away for us (her customers) and put it on herself standing behind the bar. Would have understood if she was over run by customers . Sorry Lime you missed this time..........
On the last two occasions the female bartender seemed bored and keen to close up as soon as possible. She was not friendly or helpful to our group. Given we were the only people in the place, you would have thought she would have been more accommodating. But no, she was more interested in playing cards with her boyfriend who was perched at the bar. Lazy, unprofessional and just plain rude. We won't be going back.
The bartender on duty at Lime the last time I was there was one of the best I've come across anywhere (opp. to the previous reviewer's experience). He remembered almost everyone's last order every time they went to order another round. Great service. Yup, it's a sing-a-long fest, but that quickly tends to evacuate anyone who isn't into that kind of mood or is too young to remember/ appreciate that kind of music.
