La Zeppa is a great place to go when you want to have a few drinks and tapas (and maybe a sneaky dessert!).
I went there with a few friends last Sunday night and upon arrival, were informed that it was fully booked inside. However, this did not matter as sitting outside by the hot heaters and pretty lantern lights meant that we were pretty happy!
We ordered drinks... yummy yummy cocktails! The Passionfruit Raspberry Bramble is a must try! We also ordered the vegetarian and seafood platters... A bit of a disappointment for one of us because half the vegetarian platter was actually meat!
Overall, La Zeppa is a great venue, the food is yummy and the drinks even more delicious! Plus their outdoor setting is one of a kind - the colourful lanterns definitely give this place such a cool vibe. We'll definitely be back.
Caught up with friends at La Zeppa for some fairly late drinks and tapas mid week. It was a Wednesday but still really busy and the atmosphere was great. La Zeppa has a great, cool setting but staff are still pretty relaxed.
Drinks list is good - I had the little creatures pale ale that was really well priced. Our group of 4 shared some great tasting tapas too - didn't go over board but walked away just shy of $70 lighter for 4 drinks ( 2 beers+2 wines) and a few dishes so that was pretty reasonably I thought. Definitely recommend La Zeppa for a casual catchup.
All I can say is the atmosphere on the outside deck at La Zeppa is magical...
Came in to visit La Zeppa as a friend suggested the venue last weekend. What a great place. We sat outside in the sun and orderd some plates and wines out there. We tried the risotto balls, tuna and breads - it was hard to choose dishes as there were so many that sounded good. Good reason to come back though. Definitely recommend this venue, the service was great, location was easy and central and had great views. Give this place a try for sure.
La Zeppa is my favourite bar in Auckland. Here on Friday night with the work crew. In my opinion, consistently good vibe make La Zeppa one of the best bars around. Good drinks selection and the food is pretty tasty too. Looking forward to a few more reds at La Zeppa over the coming Winter months.
My friend and I went to La Zeppa for an impromptu meal knowing we would get quick service and delicious food. As always, we weren't disappointed. Between the two of us we had the risotto balls, calamari, fries, meatballs and a yummy haloumi salad. Followed by the profiteroles and coffees - all very satisfying. All this and four glasses of good wine for just over $100 - great value.
Had a great Saturday night here for my birthday (heard it gets a bit busy on a Friday), this place has friendly, obliging staff who made wonderful cocktails, and the tapas were delicious! My only slight gripe was that they can get expensive, but really, they are worth it! Great vibe with a range of ages, and I loved the decor! I will be back!
Hadn't been to La Zeppa before and was well hidden down beside Victoria Park Market. When we entered the doors on a Thursday night it was packed but handled the crowd well with a large open plan layout.
Although I didn't have a meal, I noticed Pork belly on the chalk board that made me want to come back and test out.
Staff were good value and there never seemed to be 25 min waits to get to the bar despite the crowd!
Worth checking out.
This is a fantastic place to come for a drink in the evening, I come here quite often and the staff are amazing, the atmosphere is brilliant and its a thoroughly enjoyable place for an evening drink.
And the good reviews convinced me that I should bring a group of people here to eat, bit of a mistake. Nearly every tapa we tried was deep fried or over spiced, the squid was so salty we didn't eat it. The polenta chips were ok, but at over a dollar a chip, more than a bit on the expensive side.
Between 5 of us we ordered 11 tapas, there wasn't one dish that I would have liked to eat again. The chicken Tulips were drowned in sauce, tiny and fatty, even the truffles we ordered for desert were deep fried.
I will continue to drink at La Zeppa, but unless they get a better chef, will not be eating there again.
La Zeppa is our local work lunch place. Usually you can rely on fast service and good food, although some times it pays to tell them you're in a hurry if this is the case. The food is generally good and the menu has loads to choose from. We find choosing two tapas each and sharing a good way to taste lots of different things. Make sure you save room for dessert as La Zeppa serves the yummiest mini donuts!!
La Zeppa is essentially an upmarket booze hall and it does a very good job of it. The food is pretty tasty and goes well with the drinks. The place is pretty big and gets very noisy in the evenings, so I suggest you get there early if you want to grab one of the large tables (or you could book). Overall, not a bad venue for a good night out.
La Zeppa is a great venue for a rowdy night out sharing small plates of uber tasty food. Their maitre de is incredibly welcoming too - whether you are a celeb or a scruffy student, he is consistantly sweet.
Having gorged myself on their varied and complimentary range of tapas on many a night out, I couldn't wait to go during the day when the bar would be a little quieter and we could savour our food from La Zeppa's sun-filled deck.
Sadly not a place to go to for lunch. For some reason, the consistency of the food is poles apart between day and night. We thought maybe the chef was having a bad day, and visited two more lunch times - but poor quality food again.
Sorry La Zeppa - we love you, but your chefs need a kick up the bum during the day.
You're not wrong when you say this place has an awesome wine list. What a fantastic selection. Great vibe here too, although gets hellishly noisy when it packs out on a Friday night at La Zeppa.
La Zeppa always has a good vibe and the food is tasty (even the rabbit tapas!) It's a great place to meet friends as it can be both quiet and intimate but also loud and groovy.
I love this place - La Zeppa is certainly well worth a visit. Have eaten there a few times as well as had a few big nights. If eating at La Zeppa - try the chicken and camembert ball tapas - melt in your mouth stuff!
La Zeppa is one of my favorite restaurants in Auckland without fail. Staff are exceptional and the food, although small (as you'd expect from a Tapas restaurant) is varied and interesting. La Zeppa is also a really cool hang out spot - definitely recommended.
I have been to La Zeppa twice in the last week so thought I should voice my opinion. On my first visit, we shared a table with another a couple who got a bit upset when the kitchen mucked up and delivered our food (they got there first).
Have to say the service at La Zeppa could improve. The salmon was nice, chicken balls a bit disappointing and the prawns spicy.
The next visit, prawns were ordered on my recommendation. What a disappointment - there was only three as opposed to six the last time? However, the duck wontons and pork buns were fantastic.
Probably my biggest complaint was the smoke from the kitchen - both visits we were gasping for fresh air. Not a nice experience having the back of your throat irritated with chilli, smoke fumes.
