Freddy's Ice House Information

Freddy’s Ice House pays tribute to Frederic Tudor otherwise known as The Ice King. He had a bold idea to cut winter ice from the ponds of New England and transport it to faraway lands, the idea worked. We have re established Frederic’s Ice House where all his Ice would have been stored and turned it into the coolest experience in Auckland. The entire bar, including your glasses are made from ice and the temperature gets as low as minus 7.

Magic Ice place in the middle of Auckland. Amazing experience. We loved the cocktail in the real ice glass. Just before we left we could smash the ice glass. Sipping it on the real ice bar stools and playing pool on a real ice pool table. Just out of this world!

It was an amazing place - so different from any other bar in Auckland. The staff was lovely and friendly, and encouraged us to make the most of the place. The drinks were delicious as well.

Freddy's Ice House is a very "cool" experience! Great opportunity for photos, themed well inside with mini ice hockey table, darts, ice sculptures and more!! Loved the drink - it was served in an ice cup!! - you get smash it when you're finished with it too!! Wish we could have filmed inside... but you're not allowed to take in your own camera's. You can buy the photo's that they take for $8 each print. We bought a few and it was worth it!

A few friends and I went to the Ice House before a concert and it was great! The $30 fee for entrance includes your first drink of your choice which makes the cost well worth it. The staff were very friendly and were happy to take as many photos as requested. Although first impressions are that the Ice House is quite small, it is all you need! I recommend a shot from the Ice Luge :)

Had some friends from the US visit and they had always wanted to go to an ice bar. It was good for what we wanted, a quick visit, a drink, and to say we did it. Staff were very friendly. Freddy's Ice House is small, but I don't see why it would need to be much larger, we had plenty of space and as promised it was cold so we weren't keen to stay long and crowd the space anyway! Overall a good experience just to check out.

My Mum and I were having a girly night in Auckland city, and after attending a comedy show, doing a bit of "bar hopping", and hooning around on the back of one of those bike-taxis, we decided to stop in to Freddy's Ice House to check it out. We had such a laugh inside the bar (which is essentially a walk-in freezer)! The staff were very accommodating - putting up with our terrible jokes and poses for the camera. The drinks were yum; poured in to a cup made of ice, which the bar tender even let us ceremoniously smash against the wall on our way out! :-)

I would probably consider it a bit expensive if you were to go regularly, but Freddy's Ice House definitely worth at least one visit.

A bit sad, it could have been a hit but too much attention paid to the quick buck I think. They should charge for the warm gear and make it optional than casual guests wouldn't stay long anyway. The whole photo thing is a bit lame and of course the first thing you notice about the place is that it is *way* too small.

I would to let it known to all the people who plan to visit freddy's ice house not to waste your time and money $30 is not worth it at all. the bar is too small and the ice sculpture are not that amazing as they put it on their ads. The service is bad, the staff are rude especially the small guy with the scottish accent. they annoy you every now and then to buy more and more drinks, they have a way of telling you to get out already if you don't buy more drinks...not to mentioned, you have to pay $8 for the photo that they took of you with low resolution with a promise they would email you the photos if you want but until now we were still waiting...

Its worse sad experience ever

Friendly staff...NZ$25 for entry which includes a cocktail plus they supply you with a jacket and gloves to keep warm{inner disp plastic gloves are given for hygienic reasons}...small area but Freddy's Ice House is a must do....lovely ice sculptures...staff take as many pictures with their camera as you want then you can review them with an option to buy at NZ$8 per photo...overall great experience
