The ViewAuckland Review
When & Where: I visited Fernielea Cafe in Coatesville on a Friday for dinner with some friends and our collective 8 kids.
Decor: From outside, Fernielea Cafe is a pretty, rural cafe with plenty of parking. Once inside,
the decor is an informal cafe setting with table service and a cute little range of kids products for sale. There is also a great outdoor area with a fantastic kids playground.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere was buzzy yet relaxed & friendly with a clientelle made up of families with young children and groups of friends having fun.
Menu: The New Zealand cuisine menu included an array of oven-fired pizzas, fillet steak and pork belly. I ordered a medium-rare steak with blue cheese sauce served with chunky chips whilst the kids had the 'make-your-own' pizza which was brought to their table with little pots of cheese, ham, pineapple and sauce ready for them to create their own dinner, which went down brilliantly.
Result: Our food arrived quickly (well timed before the kids went into meltdown mode) and my steak was perfectly tender and pink.
Service: The service was fast, efficient, polite, relaxed, knowledgable and above all friendly - in otherwords everything you'd want.
Score: We strongly recommend you come here. Overall we thought
Fernielea Cafe is the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner in a rural setting away from the hustle and bustle of daily city life - and simply the best child friendly restaurant in Auckland.
