Culprit offers quite a unique dining experience - sort of like an upmarket yum char where a series of dishes are delivered to diners and you take whatever you fancy. This allows for quite a diverse selection and, in our experience, because the dishes are sample size, allows you to push the boat without meal-envy! Most of the dishes we had we really did enjoy, whilst there were a few that we were probably being over-ambitious with but hey! Wine/drinks list is very good and with attentive staff and with a great setting, a visit to Culprit is well recommended!

Goodbye Black Hoof, it was awesome, even if it didn’t last long. At least an equally great restaurant ‘Culprit’ has replaced you. Wonder what they did with those legs of ham, would have loved to get my hands on a bit of those.

The refurb isn’t huge but it was already a great space and again with pretty good ambiance and excellent service.

I pre-ordered for my group of 8, five different tapas (we received a sixth complementary which ended up being my favourite, little donuts with chicken liver pate - truly devine). They were all very good though. By the sounds of things pre-ordering for the table is better than waiting for trolley to arrive at your table.

I would have said that the food was much like the Depot (the Oysters at the least) but the main dishes at Depot are a little more generous in size.

The fish served with a chicken jus was nice, though it needed a little salt and being on the bone was hard to share. Between 4 I got a mouthful. The beef was a better dish for sharing and cooked perfectly. A side of ugly carrot with spice and yoghurt turned out to be one large ½ carrot, I thought maybe 4 baby carrots would have been better. All the flavours where lovely.

Onto dessert and we all had a Ginger snap which was a nice light little finish for the end of a nice meal. I’d like to go again and have one main to myself as there was plenty left that we didn’t try.

Culprit has had good ratings thus far and I hope it sticks round longer than the establishment before it. Get down to Wyndham Street and give it a try.
