Took my family to this pub for dinner recently, quite frankly the food was sub standard even for for a pub, the service was slow and we were engulfed with cigarette smoke! Uncooked squid, and over cooked steak, also advertised fresh beer battered fish??? frozen hoki??Sorry won't go back

My Mother was raised in the Clevedon area and our family cemetery is at “Moana View” just a 5min drive towards Kawakawa Bay. Since returning last year [to bury my mother], I have not been here for almost 20 years. 1 year later, we arrived for the Unveiling of my [both] parents headstone.

My Partner and I stayed in the Dbl Ensuite on Fri 16-Nov & Sat 17-Nov.
Our room was simple yet cosy for us [exactly as pictured] also reasonably priced.

Friday nights’ meals were Excellent- Although the restaurant was full; they managed to find a table for two straightaway. Service with a friendly smile and quick- Menu is very reasonably priced and servings were Larger than expected.
Starters- A selection of Breads & Dips (much bigger than expected) it was suggested to sharing 1 due to the size,
Entree- 1 Doz Clevedon Oysters,
Mains- 2 Scotch Fillets (1 Rare/ 1 Well done) Both Cooked to Perfection.
Dessert- We were too full to eat any more; we were allowed to take our Desserts to our room to be eaten later.

I remember the Hotel as a child and my parents taking us to the garden bar on a hot day. The atmosphere still has the same friendly yet professional feeling and everyone makes you feel welcome [like you have just returned home].

Thank-you to Kevin for the Hospitality and making our stay stress-free on such a sad occasion.

We had the best food we have had in ages at Clevedon Hotel. We were on a little break away and came from the North Shore. After a gorgeous day at Miranda hot water pools we arrived at hotel. Sat down and beers brought immediately -we were impressed lovely roaring fire and comfy sofa. We went for dinner at 8 and every course was divine, We never have 3 courses only if first 2 are amazing. Starter for me scallops - so juicy on a bed of creamy risotto with a delicious jus. Mains I had beutifully cooked pork and creamy mash.
The pudding was to die for sticky toffee pudding so moist and sweet sauce - gingerbread ice cream so creamy and a lovely light ginger taste. Will be back soon.

The Clevedon Hotel is your quintessential country pub. Great for a quiet mid-week drink, but big enough to fit the whole town in for the rugby. There is a regular crowd of locals here but everyone is welcome and you won't stay a stranger for long.

The recently renovated Clevedon Pub, has an excellent atmosphere, it has that country friendly feeling and yet only 50 minutes from Auckland Central.

Great place to go for a few drinks.

The enthusiastic friendly Publican goes out of his way to enhance that ambience.

The Restaurant has a wide variety of foods and there’s a good selection of wines, not forgetting the blazing fire, what a great atmosphere it creates for the middle of winter, on those cold dark nights.

Prices are fairly reasonable.

Last night we had the Fish (Hapuka) chips (a litte cold) with salad, very generous portions and well presented, along with a lovely taste.

But they really need to sort out the dreadful delays that we all faced between courses, or just getting served. Patrons where getting very grumpy.

After 40 minute wait for our plum crumbly dessert, we had to pull the plug and go without, such a pity, as that spoilt an otherwise very pleasant night.

The chef didn’t seem to be able to cope with the full restaurant, suggest he needs to improve his preparation skills. And the one and only waitress could do with a hand.

Pity the car park has not been upgraded when the Hotel was, we don't like all those large pot holes and puddles holes!
