Just had dinner here service was not to great 4 different waiters. Prices were rather high for the food we received my partner got Lamb rack was only average I got pork belly the waitress could not even tell me what was in it an when I received it there was to many flavors an stuff going on that did not match. We had half both our meals left on our plates when we left. We went to pay the lady asked how our food was we told her average an not that great an she told us that was very good. So she can't of actually been hearing us!!!!!
This is a family restaurant so they cater for children pretty well. The children's menu has variety and isn't just full of deep fried 'junk', while the prices are 'reasonable' (just under $10 for a main). Children also get an activity sheet and colouring pencils to keep them busy.
The atmosphere is pretty good although there are some noisy spots around the restaurant. Staff are pretty attentive but we found the food delivery on a Monday night to be pretty slow.
Our mains were good. I had the scotch fillet and it was very good although cooked medium and not the requested medium-rare, while my husband had the special fish which he declared was okay. Young daughter had the hot dogs and chips from the children's menu. For over $9 it was a pretty small meal with 3 small hot dogs and about 8 chips. Luckily big sister had ordered the vegetarian pasta from the main menu and she was able to finish that off.
We went the whole hog and had desserts too - the children's apple crumble was huge - much too big for a child, and the cheesecake which was passionfruit and white chocolate was declared very good (but rich!). Both adults had the special creme brulee, and that was very good also.
Overall, a decent experience - had our mains arrived about 15 minutes earlier than they did, we would have been completely happy with it all.
This restaurant has a great atmosphere & the food is superb. My girlfriend loves having brunch here & tells me the Eggs Benedict is the best in auckland. Bricklane's coffee banoffie pie is awesome.
We have eaten often at Bricklane. The good - it is comfortable with nice atmosphere and good service. Parking has never been a problem, plenty of space. Food quantity and quality is very good.
Highlight for us these days is the Roma Gypsy Band on a Thursday evening. Their music is just superb and tends to compensate for the high cost of eating out. It is unfortunate not to allow BYO and a half glass of wine is about $8.
All in all - a nice place to eat, but not cheap.
The food at Bricklane Restaurant & Cafe is great, and they have a wide variety. The service time could do with some improvement, but otherwise, they are fantastic.
It would be better for other people if they would put their menu onto a website so they would know what the selection is, but that is just my opinion.
Really good food at Bricklane Restaurant & Cafe. Good service. Nice atmosphere. When the fire is on it's warm and cosy. Going there again soon.
