Apparently Adam Arnold is a popular place for Tinder dates so co-owner Brad Roebuck tells us. I wasn’t on a tinder date but an overdue catch up with my friend for great food, giggles and plenty of wine.

Our downfall on ordering when one of us doesn’t eat meat is that we should have stipulated how we wanted the ‘sharing’ dishes to come out. My friends a pescatarian and her dishes came out first and fast but she didn’t want to eat without me, only for me to eat later when she is all done. So we waited for something of mine to come out whilst hers got cold. That would be my only complaint as we had mentioned she couldn’t eat meat. The food and the flavours were however great.

The peas with feta, enriched with a dollop of crème fraiche were my simple fav. If there are 2 people though – what is with the 3 slices of toast?! Halloumi and Eggplant, both lovely dishes. Although the Eggplant was the only large sharing plate she could have as they were out of fish strangely enough.

My beef braised cheek was absolutely delectable, not sure you’ll ever sell me on polenta though so I left a lot behind. The generous portion of mushrooms and beans with it was very enjoyable.

Two woman diners next to us from Wellington (don’t hold that against them) left half of their dessert which we were astonished at, but then on ordering the same thing ourselves we could see why they might have – it was sooooo very very sweet. I love sugar but this was an overload and not even the berries could break through my diabetic coma.

I loved the décor of this little restaurant that was full of patrons pretty quickly so I am happy we grabbed the last table inside. I’d recommend this place, get down and see the gregarious Brad and Tobias and see what they have in store for you.
