New Zealand has one of the highest rates of dog ownership in the world and with greater legislation, it can be confusing to know where you're allowed to take your dog and if there are any certain times and restrictions you should be mindful of.
We've enlisted the help of The Canine Club - Auckland's premiere team of dog trainers based on the North Shore - to help with our guide to Auckland's five best dog-friendly walks, off leash parks and dog-friendly beaches as recommended by them, for you.
So, if you've ever been bored with the same old dog walk routes, take a look at these suggested dog walks and explore this great region with your best mate!
Know Before You Go - The Canine Club's Recommendations
Take drinking water and a portable drinking container for you and your dog
Be sure to pick up your dogs poop! Don't spoil the walks for others
If you are walking a large dog, it is a great idea to wet them down before you walk
The times to avoid walking your dog in high summer are between 12pm and 4pm, these are the hottest time of the day

Sanders Reserve offers plenty of on lead walking tracks and a fully enclosed off lead dog area.
You can take your mountain bikes on the tracks too and the reserve has a BMX track and playground for kids.
We recommend bringing your own dog bowl for after the walk for your dog and you can fill it up in the public bathrooms.
Highly recommend this awesome spot for some fun with your dog.
It is located off Sanders Road in Paremoremo
