MOTAT's Aviation Hall

MOTAT's Aviation Hall

MOTAT is the home to New Zealand's most unique and historic aviation collection. The multi-million dollar project to provide a new Aviation Display Hall is now completed.

MOTAT’s new multi-award winning $18.5 million Aviation Display Hall is New Zealand’s largest clear span wooden structure and holds one of the largest aviation collections in the Southern Hemisphere. The custom designed Display Hall is more than double the size of MOTAT’s original Aviation Hangar and currently houses an impressive collection of aircraft, including a Lancaster Bomber, Cessna, RNZAF Skyhawk and Tiger Moth. Recent additions have included a Devon and Aermacchi, and six aircraft are now suspended from the ceiling.

This is a truely unique experience and Aviation Hall entry comes as part of the standard MOTAT entry charges. Please note that the Aviation Display Hall is located at MOTAT’s Meola Road site and visitors can ride the tram between the two sites for free.
