Auckland's Best Adrenalin Adventures

Auckland's Best Adrenalin Adventures

There are several tourism and adventure companies operating in Auckland offering a range of full-on adrenalin pumping activities across the wider Auckland region on land, wheels and water. For example, the Auckland Adventure Operators Group offer activities from skydiving, kayaking, horseriding to exploring caves and balloon safaris.

Probably the most popular adrenalin adventures in the city centre are the SkyJump and SkyWalk off and around the SkyTower, the Auckland Bridge Climb and the Auckland Bridge bungee jump.

The SkyWalk takes people around the ring of Auckland’s SkyTower for the best views of the harbour and city. Walkers are 192 metres off the ground and outside the observation deck on a 1.2 metre walkway wearing a full body harness.

While the SkyJump is New Zealand’s highest jump at 192 metres. It takes about 11 seconds to reach the ground falling at around 85 kph. Jumpers wear a full body harness and flying suit, but unlike bungy jumping there are is no dangling upside down – you simply fall. Both the SkyJump and SkyWalk are operated from the SkyTower in the city centre.

The Auckland Harbour Bridge Climb offers the best views of the City of Sails and lasts for about an hour and a half. Participants are led by fully trained bridge climbers.

The Auckland Bridge Bungy is yet another adrenalin packed adventure that will have your heart pounding. It is the world’s first harbour bridge bungy jump and is a 40 metre drop down. There are a variety of options available, including a ‘water-touch’.

Both the Harbour Bridge Climb and Bridge Bungy are operated by AJ Hackett from Westhaven Marina.

For other adrenalin adventures see other operators such as Auckland Adventure Pursuits, Auckland Adventure Operators Group or NZSkydive.
