AUCKLAND HOT 5 - JANUARY 2017

BRING THE NOISE...

It’s go-time. As always, Auckland revellers are beyond excited that the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival is on the horizon. New Zealand’s eighth edition of the original inner-city boutique festival features a bevy of international and local superstars, moreish delights and guaranteed good times. Summer = saved.

PREHISTORIC LEGENDS

You know your 2017 is going to be a banger if the likes of Dinosaur Jr, and Nick Cave are in the offing - more of the same please!.

’SUP TO, BRO

New Year, new challenges. If and when the decent weather hits why not look to take in the city from a new perspective with the latest water adventure to hit our shores, Stand Up Paddleboarding. If you're new to the sport, there are schools aplenty that'll show you the ropes (or at least the paddles!) - here’s a few worth a go: Mission Bay Watersports, Auckland Paddleboarding, Stand Up Takapuna and Fergs.

AT THE FLICKS

From over-indulgent action to Oscar hopefuls, the movies of summer have more to recommend them than two hours of air-conditioned heat relief. Here are our top picks of the January offerings.

SUNS OUT, GUNS OUT

And when we talk big guns, they don’t get any bigger than Serena Williams, undoubtedly the most dominant tennis player to ever grace the court. If that isn’t reason enough to take in this event, we don’t know what is.
