The DVD included 16 extra minutes, which may have been better left on the editing floor. It's beautiful but the main character is visibly exhausted from the start. It could have been much better if they had him "wake up" at some point.

This story does add a gritty freudian psychodrama to the classic. Once the action starts, it's a hair raising, howling rip fest. I loved the touches of humour. My favourite being when he meets with the doctors.

The deleted scenes are excellent which again points to some carelessness with the editing. Overall, I enjoyed it and will remember it. It respects the classic tale and I think the story is richer, but Lon Chaney is still the wolf to beat.

Sorry folks - The Wolfman is decidedly average. Usually I'm a sucker for these sorts of films but have to say I was quite easily distracted while watching this film - a sure sign that I wasn't overly engrossed in the film!

It's OK. I'm a fan of horror and thriller movies, and this is really neither. It's predictable, but quite darkly beautiful in the cinematography. While the ingredients are there for a good werewolf film, it is missing something. It is not engrossing, and honestly I didn't care about the characters, or whether I would soon see their entrails spread along the ground.

There is a bit of gore, slashing and body parts flying, so if you're truly squeamish, this probably isn't the film for you.

I wouldn't rush to see The Wolfman at the cinema.
