While I knew little about Stephen Hawking I went into The Theory of Everything expecting a tear jerker which it wasn't. I don't recall seeing Eddie Redmayne who plays Stephen Hawking in anything previously but it must have been a tough part to play. I thought Felicity Jones was amazing as Jane - she was great in Chalet Girl several years ago and can't understand why she hasn't done much of note in the time since. The movie is set over several decades with the same actors throughout - both in their early 30's they didn't appear to age much despite reaching the point of having adult children in the final scenes. Worth a watch but I wouldn't race to see it before it winds up in cinemas shortly.

Well-written and well-paced drama about Stephen Hawkins's extraordinary life with the emphasis on his personal relationships as based on a book by his former wife.
In general it's all a bit too melodramatic but the acting in the film is great.

Funnily enough, the character that I found least likeable is in fact the wife whose perspective this was supposed to be although it's obvious she went through hell and back. Amazes me how in most cases cinema still can't portray a female character that's a real person.

Verdict - Moment to shine for the male lead and an ok biopic. Would have been equally as happy to watch on DVD.

Great film based on Stephen Hawkings and Jane Wilde's lives. Got you thinking about life and what we come across in life's journey and potentially how we deal with it.
