The pre-storm storyline is based in a small fishing community and focuses on a rugged, bearded George Clooney (fisherman determined to prove he can still cut it) and Marky Mark Wahlberg (fisherman who no longer wants to cut it so he can stay on dry land with his girl).

As the music increases and weather warnings begin to roll in you know there’s a mean mutha’ brewing and boy does it hit with a vengeance. In no time at all Clooney and Wahlberg are being tossed from pillar to post as they struggle to keep their ship the Andrea Gail afloat. The rescuers are coming, but will they manage to reach our brave movie stars in time?

Certainly some of the effects are truly awesome and real enough to leave you feeling incredibly seasick in places but others fall a bit flat. How some scenes can look SO impressive while others so obviously filmed in a large water tank with props people chucking buckets of water all over the show, is beyond me.

All in all The Storm’s worth watching just for the fact the stories based on fact and it gives you a chance to acknowledge nature’s less fluffy side. But if the all action block buster isn’t your scene or your prone to motion sickness it might be best to wait for the video!
