I haven't seen The Notebook or Dear John but I'd heard about the type of emotional novels the guy who wrote the novels the films are based on writes. I wasn't expecting much since Miley Cyrus was in it but was pleasantly surprised by her performance. The guy who played her dad was equally as engaging and I think they both held the film together, given it's predictable formulaic plot.

My one grip is that the promotional song released for the film When I Look At You wasn't performed as the titular Last Song, but instead some lyric-less piano piece. What a waste of Miley's singing talents.
