Set in New York (while the Paula Hawkins novel it is based on is set in London) The Girl on the Train still managed to live up to my high expectations having read the book two years prior. Emily Blunt is excellent, pulling off the role of Rachel brilliantly. Minor supporting characters with little screen time are played by recognisable faces (such as Lisa Kudrow as Tom's boss and Laura Prepon as Rachel's roommate) which I think added to the impact when they later became pivotal to the story. Whether you've read the book or not, go and see it.
