What a great start to a year. If all movies I see this year are as good as Book Thief I will be very happy. Adapted from the noel written about a collection of stories the author has heard through the second world war the movie is about a mother having to give up her children as we are given the impression she will be taken from her by the rising Nazi party. Her brother dies en route and this is all we hear from the mother and brother aside from a mention her and there from Lisel (the focus of the movie) herself.
The part of the movie I didn't enjoy was the movie was narrated by the voice of death and I didn't feel as though it was fitting with a wartime movie. However the whole thing was a hit and it is nice to see a film from the view from "the other side."
A turbulent ride of emotions and if you are little teary take the tissues.

Highly recommended.
