The official tag line reads as, the spaceship, Starship Avalon, in its 120-year voyage to a distant colony planet known as the "Homestead Colony" and transporting 5,259 people has a malfunction in one of its sleep chambers. As a result one hibernation pod opens prematurely and the one person that awakes, Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) is stranded on the spaceship, still 90 years from his destination.

The movie leans heavily on the relationship between the two main characters played by Pratt and Lawrence, they are the only people present for the majority of the movie. As the movie progresses, their relationship grows & changes. This is aided by the android bartender played by Michael Sheen (no relation to the American acting Sheens) who does well to provide some light hearted relief despite being an android. It's not until the third person appears about 2/3's thru the movie that the focus switches to their predicament and how do they fix it. It does seem to be a stretch of coincidence that the hibernation pod that failed belonged to a mechanic who had the know how to be able to work on various parts of the ship as needed. The music track also plays back to Pratt's best known performance in Guardians of the Galaxy with a familiar song, but all good.

It's not Star Wars or Star Trek so don't go expecting a big story with big music or big special effects but some of the effects are very good, particularly when the swimming pool loses gravity. Overall I found it a good watch even if the ending was a touch predictable.
