Nowhere Boy (Drama/Music)

Basic premise: The story of John Lennon’s childhood; who, as a young man desperate for something different from his everyday existence, discovers his passion for music.

Main cast: Aaron Johnson (Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging), Anne-Marie Duff (The Virgin Queen), Kristen Scott Thomas

My rating: 4.5 Stars. This movie was fantastic from start to finish. Simply put, the cast was outstanding, with every cast member putting forward a strong performance; whilst the story was truly captivating. There were fleeting moments where I was so captivated by the music and amazing energy the cast exuded that if I had not been in a respectable movie theatre I might have jumped to my feet and danced… or similarly sob during some of the heartbreaking moments that occurred in John Lennon’s life.

Target audience/rating: Fans on British Theatre & The Beatles , 40+ year olds /4.5 Stars

Nowhere Boy is the perfect introduction to The Beatles for anyone who hasn't listened to their music before (but really, who hasn't these days?)

John Lennon circa Quarrymen/pre-Beatles fame deals with living with his aunt Mimi, losing his uncle and eventually reconciling with his estranged mother. It's great to see Aaron Johnson, who plays Lennon, get this sort of opportunity, because he is a really fantastic actor who I think is going places. The little boy from Love Actually (Thomas Sangster) is all grown up and plays Paul McCartney, who of course went on to become one half of one of the greatest writing duos of all time.

Anyway. This Beatles fangirl was super impressed and thinks you should go see it.
