Can't agree with Matt's assessment on this one - ok, it wasn't the best movie showing (and certainly one of Adam Sandlers worst) but still watchable.. Grown ups gets the two star treatment...

The Grown Ups movie wasn't as funny as I wanted it to be and I think my expectations were high considering the line up of comedians starring in it but sadly it was just short of that "rolling on the floor and peeing myself experience". My husband however did manage to P### himself and slightly annoyed me as he cracked up the whole way through.

This is one of those, you'll find this movie hilarious if you are male and married with kids but not so much if you are a bit younger and single without children. 5 stars for the blokes and maybe only 3-4 for the women but Grown Ups is definitely a good watch if you just want a night out and a laugh. You'll definitely laugh with this, maybe just not as much as you would hope as some of the lines are a little drier but this definitely stayed true to typical Adam Sandler humor, so if you find him funny you'll find this movie funny too.

I just want to put it out there that I love Adam Sandler movies! He would have to be my favourite comedian alongside Rob Schneider.

Having laughed throughout the preview for Grown Ups I knew that it was a movie that I definitely wanted to see.

The premise is pretty much the same as a lot of American comedies with old friends being brought together after the death of their mentor. There are half-truths told to come off as either more successful or less successful. I guess it’s a little like lying when you go to your high school reunion. There is the rivalry with the basketball team that they beat and of course near the end of the movie. Loved Steve Buscemi’s character and I always remember him from the film Fargo “Oh, he was a little guy... Kinda funny lookin'”.

Grown Ups does try it’s hand at hitting at some more serious issues like the children being completely out of touch with nature, and as the movie progresses you see the kids experience things that their father’s did when they were young (skipping stones). The scene with the kids playing with the cup and string phones was really cute.

I don’t think it was a bad movie, but it wasn’t the most incredible comedy that I have seen. Perhaps it’s because they tried to hit every comedy cliché? However, if you want to let your brain go and have a good laugh then this is probably the movie for you. There are a lot of cheesy one-liners and some cliché old jokes. There were quite a few LOL (laugh out loud) moments for my friend and I, and also the boys and their dad behind us. One of the best was the aerial view of the dad’s in the pool.

Look out for Adam Sandler’s wife and kids at the game.

Had a good laugh. An easy movie to watch about a bunch of men who are still boys at heart!

Wasn't expecting much - but we had a good laugh at Grown Ups.
Great cast & Salma Hayek is just stunning, but sometimes the jokes just came a little too late.
A good Sunday night family movie though!
Thanks for the free screening too!
