My disclaimer is, is that I have not seen the original Footloose movie. However, the remake did make me want to go and watch the original.

I really enjoyed it. I loved the music (very faithful to the original soundtrack…I looked that up) and the dancing was awesome. The level of energy was amazing.

Above all else I absolutely adored the character Willard played by Miles Teller. For me he pretty much stole the show in the scenes he was in. I loved when Willard, Ren and Ariel head to line dancing bar and Willard explains that he cannot dance and Ren basically says that it’s a line dancing bar and it’s a “white man’s wet dream”. I laughed and laughed at that.

If I didn’t love cowboy boots before but I certainly do now.

I was a little let down by the scene where Ren burns off his anger in an abandoned warehouse. Having seen this in the Footloose music video I felt a bit cheated. Also, the fight scene at the end was pretty ridiculous and unnecessary.

All in all it was a really enjoyable movie and I would definitely watch it again.

I haven't seen the original so I can't make any comparisons but this looks sufficiently cheesy. In a good way.
