New Zealanders will be able to see Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 3D in three Special Previews at 8pm on Wednesday February 8, 2012.

Tickets for these special previews go on sale at midday on Saturday February 4 and are available from these cinemas only: Auckland's Hoyts Sylvia Park, Wellington's Embassy Theatre and Christchurch's The Palms. There are no online or telephone sales.

To celebrate the release Saturday February 4 is Star Wars Day at Sylvia Park in Auckland, where there will be Star Wars activities from 10am to 1pm.

10:00AM - 1:00PM
  • Star Wars characters galore - plus photo opportunities with characters.
  • Wield a lightsaber and put your podracing skills to the test with Kinect Star Wars on Xbox 360.
  • Jedi training for kids.
  • Face painting by award-winning BodyFX.
  • Specials on Hasbro Star Wars toyos at Toyworld.
  • Pre-orders of Kinect Star Wars on Xbox 360 at JB Hi-Fi
  • Music and giveaways from The Rock radio station.
10:30AM
R2D2 appears outside The Warehouse then moves up the mall towards Hoyts Cinemas.

11:30AM
Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion (Official Star Wars players) approach from all four ends of the mall to arrive in the Cone beneath Hoyts Cinemas. Met by Jedi.

11:55AM
Darth Maul v Obi Wan Kenobi's spectacular lightsaber battle.

12:00PM
Tickets on sale at Hoyts Cinemas - only 200 tickets available for February 8th 8pm session.
