The Olympics come around every two years and provide the world with a rare shared experience, something for people of different backgrounds living in different societies to bond over and watch together. Over the history of the games there have been some extremely memorable moments, both uplifting triumphs and sobering reminders of the dark side of humanity. In the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic Games we decided to count down our top five favourite Olympic movies.

Steven Spielberg directs this look at one of the most horrifying events in modern Olympic history. Munich tells the story of the Israeli government’s secret retaliation against the terrorist group Black September after the massacre at the 1972 Olympics which resulted in twelve deaths.
