Five Random Things I Found On The Internets
Has it really been that long since I last did a Five Random Things?

1. This utterly bizarre photograph of Alfred Hitchcock. Bookmark the website, while you're at it – it's a wonderful photo blog
and one of the very few sites I check on a daily basis via Google
Reader.

2. This rather brilliant explosion-by-explosion guide to Die Hard. A must-read for Die Hard fans. Impossible to read this without
wanting to watch it again.

3. This lovely collection of classic film noir posters. My birthday is in August, apropos of nothing.

4. This awesome collection of movie lists, sorted into 19 different categories. A must-read for list-makers, but there's something here for everyone.

5. This very funny parody of West Side Story, entitled “Web Site
Story: An Internet Paedophile Musical” – see below. I first saw this when it played as a short before the equally hilarious Blood Car in Edinburgh two years ago, so it's possible I've linked to it before, but it's worth repeating. It's Safe For Work, in case you're worried and I guarantee you'll be humming “I want to be on the in-ter-net...” for the rest of the day.

Films I'm Looking Forward To: The Runaways
The Runaways is a coming-of-age biopic about 1970s teenage band The
Runaways. Based on the book by Cherie Currie, the film is written and
directed by acclaimed video artist Floria Sigismondi and stars Kristen
Stewart and Dakota Fanning as guitarist / vocalist Joan Jett and lead
vocalist / keyboardist Cherie Currie. Also starring Michael Shannon as
their manipulative manager Kim Fowley, the film takes place between
1975 and 1977 and details their formation and rise to fame.
This is still just a 50 second teaser trailer as yet (set to their hit
“Cherry Bomb”), but there's enough here to get excited about, not
least the inspired casting of Stewart and Fanning. There's also this clip of Joan meeting Cherie, which suggests that we're in for yet another
terrific Michael Shannon performance too. I don't know a huge amount
about Joan Jett (other than the fact that Bad Reputation is the theme tune to Freaks and Geeks) but I'm a sucker for this sort of movie anyway, so I'm really looking forward to it. No UK release date as yet, but watch this space...

Just saw Shutter Island last night - thought it was a bit of a let down for an actor of Leo's ability.
