Let me introduce myself
If you're reading this, I'll presume that you came to this page somewhat accidentally. Maybe you were curious, maybe the mouse slipped when you were clicking another link, but regardless, you're here now and you've read this far. Why not keep going, just this once..at least?

So let me tell you about myself: I'm a 24 year old SWF and I made the move to Auckland back in March. Since then I've got most of the important things sussed - the job, the flat, the car. I've just got one problem - the one thing I've failed to get myself since I started life up here is...um, a life.
I keep hearing about all the fantastic things Auckland has to offer but I've pretty much managed to miss them all - through working late, it being the day-before-payday or sheer laziness. But that's all about to change.
When the View Auckland blog opportunity came up, I knew it would be a great way to get a life. Why would anyone read about a chick that does not-a-lot in her spare time? If people are going to read this, then I'm going to have to have something to say. This, dear readers is my pledge: Each week, I'm going to go somewhere new or do something fun in an attempt to meet new people and obtain a life.
I'll be keen to hear your suggestions on things to do and see in the big smoke, I'm going to try out the bars and restaurants (so many cocktails and tapas to taste...), head to the events, the beaches and blog about my new life in the city. I hope you'll join me!

If you're a city girl and want to get out of the smoke for the day, head up to Matakana - it's really not that far (45 mins from downtown), take a drive around and then head to Heron's Flight Winery for an amazing meal - looks like a backwayd hicksville place when you drive in, but the food is amazing!

And if you're there, don't go past the pies at Matakana Pattisserie...best Pies in the Auckland region for sure! (In fact, legend has it that a guy drives all the way from town every weekend to nab a couple - and when he didn't show one weekend when he was sick they jumped in a car and delivered some for him).
Now that's dedication!

If you head to Matakana it is well worth heading out to Takatu Peninsula the beaches and national park there are unbelievable!

Also worth heading to Leigh just around the corner! Goat Island is fantastic and the Leigh Sawmill always has great live acts from all over NZ. You can stay there as well.

Dont leave home till you've seen the backyard suze. Without a doubt there are some great spots within an hour of town, its top shelf getting a change of pace. just fill the tank up and go. Get on the motorway and take the 18th (pick a number) major exit. Whether that exit goes east or west dont worry, just head for the coast. You cant go wrong. Admittedly, pack a swimming ring in case you head to the west coast - pretty wild surf out there.
